Grant requests are currently being reviewed at Monthly BOD meetings again!!!
If you are interested in getting out and doing something and using your grant, please make sure you submit the grant form (Below) along with the mandatory Waiver Agreement, and return both by email to email@example.com. It will get reviewed at the next Board of Directors Meeting (Typically the 3rd Wednesday of the month), then the chapter will get back with you and let you know the status of your request.
Regardless of what event you are doing, or which form you fill out, please complete & return this waiver:
The member Recreational Grants program is designed to help get members out and about and to be reminded that life’s opportunities still exist.
Simply put, as a member of PVACC in good standing, you are eligible for up to $2000/year to help offset lodging and transportation costs to various recreational therapy events across the US, or even in local Southern California or wherever the member happens to reside.
Pick up a Grant application form in the office, or on link below. Fill out the form 45+ days before the event date and bring it or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your application will be reviewed, and returned to you with your approval, or reason as to why it was not approved. After the event, submit the receipts along with the approved form back to the PVACC office for payment.
If financial situations dictate funding before the event in your particular situation, contact the office to discuss and each instance will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Other grant opportunities
The purpose of this program is not to simply provide “Free” experiences for our members. However, we encourage members to reach out to other organizations to request additional funds as needed. With one or two more organizations helping, members may indeed get a free experience.
Local tickets program
This new grant program also includes the ability to attend local concerts, sporting events, movies, or plays. The process is the same and will purchase a ticket for an event for you and one attendant or family member. The maximum individual reimbursed ticket price is capped at $100. So if you buy two $140 tickets, you would be reimbursed $200. This is also deducted from your $2000/year.
Each event has a maximum reimbursement of $1000 for Transportation and Lodging expenses. For example, if you are going to any of the 6 VA major events, or another week long event and your lodging and transportation exceeded $1000, you would not be eligible for more than $1000.
You will only be reimbursed up to the amount you spend on travel and lodging. Leaving more money available to you for other events throughout the year.
Aid and attendant / caregiver
If your SCI care provider determines that you have a medical need for aide and assistance, you may qualify for additional funding to help offset the additional expense of bringing your care provider.
Please have your SCI Physician fill our the PVA Functional Evaluation Form available in the office or on the web and attach the signed form with your Grant Application.
This additional Aid and Attendant funding is only available for the 6 VA approved events at this time.
First time participants
If you have never attended any of the 6 VA major events, you are eligible for up to $2000 in reimbursement for your first attendance at any one of these 6 specific events, and still have the remaining $1000 for use in the same Fiscal Year.
This is ONLY for the 6 VA Events, and your first of any, not your first at each. Your Aid & Attendant / Caregiver may qualify for additional funds as well
This program is new and evolving
As we encounter new questions and situations, the program will continue to evolve. Our #1 goal is to get members out and experiencing new things that may have never tried if there had not been some financial support. Then, we look forward to hearing from you about your experience, and sharing it with other members in hopes they may be moved to try something new as well.
