There are many ways you can contribute to the Chapter: Financially, or with your time, your vehicle or clothing donations. However you choose to donate, we thank you for your support.
Make a Financial Contribution
Support Southern California’s Paralyzed Veterans.
Your unrestricted or restricted donation to the Paralyzed Veterans of America California Chapter (PVACC) provides opportunities for veterans every day to find success in life and to be reminded that the chair does not define who they are and what they are capable of doing. If you have a specific program or veteran you wish to support the donate link will allow you to do that as well.
Donate Your Time
Whether you are a member or not, if you would like to volunteer some of your valuable time to help make the chapter better, we greatly accept your generosity. Whatever your skill-set or passion is, we can probably put it to good use. Volunteering for something you enjoy doing makes volunteering even that much more rewarding and fun.

* Visiting with patients
One of our most popular and rewarding ways to volunteer is to simply visit with patients in the wards. Many may not have local family members in the area, and simply enjoy some good friendly company. There are additional requirements that you need to fulfill in order to be allowed access to visit with patients through the Hospitals “Voluntary Service” office, including a background check and a TB check. However, we can help you navigate the additional paperwork and process if this is something you would like to consider.
Once you decide you would like to donate some time to help improve lives of Veterans in Southern California, simply download Volunteer Application form and submit it back to the chapter.
We will get you an Volunteer ID number. If you want to work directly visiting with patients, we will guide you through the additional process with the VA’s Voluntary Service office. Then get you scheduled to volunteer on a weekly or monthly basis.
We simply ask that you track your hours and each month our Volunteer coordinator will request you to email in your hours report so we can submit all the fantastic hours submitted by each of you to our national office. It is pretty simply once you get the hang of it.
Donate your Vehicle

Through the PVA Vehicle Donation Program, we can raise more funds to support our mission at the national and state levels. Together, the PVA National Office and Chapters will administer and market the initiative with the support of PVA’s partner, CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services).
PVA National and participating Chapters will receive the net proceeds generated from the sale of each donated vehicle. We encourage all PVA Chapters to become active participants in promoting the Vehicle Donation Program in their communities and through chapter-level communications channels. PVA leadership and staff can learn more about the program by familiarizing themselves with the information provided in this toolkit. This toolkit will support your team in facilitating this impactful new fundraising program. Inside you will find quick facts and FAQs that help you understand your program, as well as approved marketing materials with best practices for effectively marketing vehicle donations.
For questions about your program: Contact Jim Strassburg, PVA-VDP Account Manager, at Ji**@*****sy.org or 858-300-2943, or Julia Walker Bailey, Director, Corporate Fundraising at PVA, at Ju****@*va.org.
How to Donate a Vehicle to PVA:
1. Donors Call 877-900-VETS (877-900-8387) or Submit the Online Form at pva.careasy.org: a) PVA Vehicle Donor Support Representatives (DSRs) are available seven days a week to answer donor inquiries with an average wait time of 30 seconds or less. At the beginning of the call, the DSR will greet the donor and identify the PVA Vehicle Donation Program. b) Donors submit the online vehicle donation form at pva.careasy.org. Within 48 hours, our Vehicle Donation Support Team will contact the donor to complete the donation and confirm pick up information.
2. Schedule the Free Pick-up: Vehicles can be picked up just about anywhere in the U.S. and in some areas of Canada. Once the donation form has been completed and submitted, a DSR will arrange to have a licensed tow vendor pick up the vehicle. Donors will receive a call from the vendor within two to three business days.
3. PVA Receives the Proceeds: The entire sale process of each donated vehicle can take approximately up to four to 12 weeks, and then PVA receives the proceeds.
4. Donors Receive a Donation Receipt: Vehicle donations are tax-deductible. An initial donation receipt is provided at the time of the pick-up. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, donors are mailed a thank-you letter within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, which serves as a tax receipt. If the vehicle sells for more than $500 and the donor has provided their tax identification number, an IRS Form 1098-C will be mailed to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds (the maximum amount of the donor’s tax deduction) received from the donation. For specific tax-related questions, donors are advised to consult with their tax advisor.
